Jesus Network Bible "9 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a tax collector sitting at his stall. His name was Matthew, and when Jesus asked him to follow him, he got up and went with him. 10 Later Jesus was having a meal in a house (possibly Matthew’s). Many tax collectors and “evil doers” were eating with Jesus and his followers. 11 When some Pharisees saw this, they complained to Jesus’ followers: “Why is your teacher having a meal with tax collectors and evil doers?” 12 Jesus replied: “Healthy people do not need a doctor, but sick people do. 13 Go and find the meaning of these words in the Jewish writings : ‘I want mercy, not religious sacrifices’. I came for evil doers, to call them to a new way of life. I did not come for people who are good enough already ”.(JNB Matthew 9: 9-13) |
